There are a number ways of punishment for people who break the law. But, those are not as interesting as the punishments people created ages ago. For example the ancient Turkey provided such punishment as putting a thief into the vat full of faeces. The butcher stayed above the vat and swung the sword above the vat. So, if a thief wanted to live he had to dive into the faeces.
